Here's pictures of Jacob's first real bath! His hair almost looks strawberry blonde in these pics but I think it's just the lighting.

In the Operating Room
Jacob Robert
My beautiful baby boy, Jacob Robert, arrived Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 6:36pm!
So here's the process of Jacob's journey into the world!... I checked into the hospital on Monday night to start the process of induction, and Tuesday morning at around 5:00am the pitocin was started. When the doctor came around to check on me at around 6:45am, I had not dialated any yet. He came back around 12:45pm, and I managed to dialate a whole 1cm, which was just enough for him to break my water. After my water was broken, everything progressed alot faster! I received my epidural around 2:00pm (Thank goodness for epidurals!). By about 3:00pm I was dialated 3cm, and by 4:40pm I was up to 5cm. Shortly after that, at around 5:00pm, I jumped to 7-8cm dialated, and Jacob's heart rate began dropping during contractions. The doctor was concerned about Jacob's heart rate dropping so low, and decided to give me just a little bit longer to fully dialate. After about 30 min, I still hadn't dialated past 8cm so the doctor decided to hurry up and get Jacob out via C section. It turns out that the umbilical chord was loosely wrapped around Jacob's neck, so the doctor thinks that everytime I had a contraction, it would push Jacob towards the birth canal and tighten up on the chord, which is why his heart rate dropped. When the contractions stopped, the chord must have loosened up, allowing his heart rate to return to normal. Jacob was born at 6:36pm, weighing in at 7lbs 7.5oz, and measuring 20.5 inches long.
Here I am before the process started!

Here's Jacob in the nursery before I got to meet him! (Everyone said he looks long in this picture but I think it's just an optical illusion!)
